Various characters are seen inquiring about the rose in local markets and fields, only to be told that it is extremely scarce and that a traveling healer has already taken the remaining stock. This search mirrors the spiritual themes of the script, as the rose is described as “very rare” and difficult to find in the city, requiring one to look in the solitary outskirts or among the ruins.
A Legacy of Loss and Trusts
The plot further complicates as Gazali and his companion navigate a landscape marked by violence and “emanet” (sacred trusts). They meet a woman who recounts a brutal raid by bandits that left her family dead and the village in mourning. Gazali reveals that he is looking for an orphaned child to deliver an inheritance—a “diyet” (blood money/compensation) given for his own father years ago—which has finally reached its time to be passed on. However, he learns that those he seeks have already fled to unknown lands.
The Mother’s Demand
The excerpt reaches its emotional peak when Gazali is confronted by his mother. She reveals that she is fully aware of the secrets he and his companions have been keeping regarding Salih. Rejecting the silence and the “dark zindans” (dungeons) where Salih is being kept, she asserts her authority as a mother whose heart is “burning”.
